WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrading by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade items.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an Item Level upgrade's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade item process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
