WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade items boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item level upgrade (why not look here) has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade item your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item upgrader mod has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade items their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
