UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out over time and will need to be replaced. When replacing upvc window handles them, it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the critical dimensions of the previous handle.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazed handles glazing and come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability to serve its intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a wider size handle that can often be a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centre' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the right handles.

After you have identified the correct size of PZ it is important to make sure that the lever and push pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They typically have a square or round design with an internal lever and external push pad.

There are also cylinders that have been made to resist snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders, which is where the break line of the lock is attacked using a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a much faster and simpler method to gain access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their original position after use. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple part is the best way to address this issue. It also helps prevent your door from getting stuck in the closed or open position since they are difficult to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of the door handle for numerous brands of uPVC doors. They are available as one unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
