The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning robot mop and vacuum maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuum mop cleaner robot/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot cleaner we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty they are.

If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
