A twin bedside cot crib, sometimes referred to as a baby bassinet, is positioned next to your bed so that you can safely attend to your child during feedings at night and nappy-changings without having to leave bed. These cribs are great for fostering independence for your child as they grow more comfortable in their own bed.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Joie Roomie Glide is a bedside cot 6 months plus crib that allows parents to co-sleep with their newborn whilst making sure they're safe. Its smooth gliding motion is able to soothe your baby to sleep, and its ingenuous features ensure that you can monitor them without leaving your bed.

The cot's side panel sliding raises and lowers at the push of an button, making it a breeze to reach in and soothe a baby at night. It also comes with 11 height adjustments that let it fit on the mattress of almost any size bed and it includes adjustable folding feet to make sure that it is at the right height.

In terms of safety the cot is cushioned and has mesh sides for increased ventilation, while its mattress is made from high-density foam to provide extra protection. It can also be cleaned and you can keep the cot clean. It is fitted with a mattress sheet that is suitable for a crib.

Contrary to other cribs that are bedside sleeper cot like the Roomie Glide is suitable for all beds, including divans, thanks to its straps and clip attachment. It can also be used as a standalone crib when it's not connected to your bed and it's full of amazing features that are specifically designed with the bonding between parents and babies in mind.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that while this crib is great for newborns, it won't last long once your child is six months old, which means you'll need to invest in larger cots. However, overall Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide was a really good buy and she was particularly impressed by its sleek design.

John Lewis sells the Roomie Glide for PS160. Roanna thought this was a fair price for an item. She also liked how it looked in the bedroom, and believed that its grey colour will work well in modern homes. However, she pointed out that it isn't a great idea to rock a young baby as it could set a bad habit for later sleep patterns.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee

The Tutti Bambini CoZee bedside crib is designed to ensure a good night's rest. It has a drop-side rail that can be easily adjusted to feed your child in the evening without disturbing them or causing them to get out of bed. This is ideal for breastfeeding mothers! It's also light, making it easy to move around the house during naps and also for travel.

We love that it's made of soft fabrics with mesh sides that breathe, which aids in airflow and ease of use. It's available in charcoal and oak and comes with a variety of melange fabrics that blend well with most decor styles. Anna found it to be sturdy and secure once attached to her bed. The legs snapped into place and the zippers were secure for safety. It took her about 10 minutes to put together and didn't require tools, with clear instructions and a video or customer support contact number should you have any issues.

As well as the usual features you'd expect from a crib that is bedside cot 6 months plus, like being able to attach to your existing bed using a stay-in-place connection system and six height levels, the CoZee has an additional incline option that can be used to alleviate reflux or congestion in infants. It's also machine-washable, a must with all the dribble, vomit and snot that come with having a newborn!

The CoZee is a great option if you want to keep your child close during the first six months of learning to sleep independently. It can be used as a cot, changing station and toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa bed extension kit, it can transform into an actual crib. While it isn't able to feed your baby, or magically put them to sleep it will gently rock them and send them off!

The Chicco Next2Me Magic

This is one of Chicco's most expensive options, however it comes with a lot of features. It's designed to be used as a side sleeper or standalone crib, and is suitable from birth up to six months. It has a new mechanism for opening and closing the side panel, and is simple to use even with one hand. It's also more flexible than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels as well as retractable feet for a secure place under any bed.

Our testers loved the ease of access to the side panel that can be flipped up and down with just one push of a button. This was a huge benefit during feeding times at night because it meant they could reach into and take their baby away without waking them.

It is possible to lower the side panel by itself, but this isn't recommended, because it increases the chance that your child will get out of the cot. However, the safety locking mechanism ensures that it will only remain in place if it is connected to the parent's bed correctly. This feature can be very beneficial for peace of mind if you are breastfeeding and need frequent feedings at night.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to be a perfect fit for any bed that includes divan bases as well as beds with drawers due to the telescopic legs. It also comes with an option to tilt for babies with reflux and a rocking mode that can help them sleep after eating. It's also very large and offers excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.

Our test subjects found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it does come with a long instruction manual. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers but it can still be easily moved from one area to another. It's also able to fold up into its travel bag which is great for those who want to transport it. The only issue our testers noticed was that the side panel didn't move as much as the other models, which made it difficult to see your baby from your own bed.

The Shnuggle Air

The Shnuggle Air bedside crib is a great option when you're looking for a crib that can grow with your child. Designed to be a co-sleeping bassinet that is attached to your bed, but can also transform into a stylish cot when your baby is ready. It's ideal for feeding at night and for strengthening your bond with your newborn.

The Shnuggle Air crib is designed to breathe, which is different from other models. The mesh side panels with dual-view as well as the airflow mattress that is hypoallergenic and breathable maximize airflow and keep your baby cool and comfortable. A gentle incline helps to ease reflux and colic, while the zip down side allows you to feed or comfort your baby during the night.

The cot conversion kit (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear directions and everything you need to get started. It took us about an hour to assemble and was relatively simple. The only downside to the instructions was that certain images were not captioned. This made it difficult to follow the instructions. However, it was an easy process and the quality of materials used was excellent.

The Shnuggle Air is a great option for mothers who are breastfeeding or have had a c-section. It lets them reach out and touch their baby to comfort them and feeding without having to leave their bed. It's also great for parents who prefer not to go through the stress of getting into and out of a traditional cot, or putting their baby down to sleep.

During our testing we noticed the smooth motion of this next-to-me crib to be especially helpful when it comes to getting babies to sleep after feedings at midday and in the evening. The drop-down side makes it easy to feed or soothe babies throughout the night. This was a huge selling point for our exhausted test mums. The Joie Roomie Glide is a sleek and functional crib that doesn't rock nor has extra features like a sound machine.
