Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs are a cot with a bassinet style that can be attached to the side of your bed. Some have a side that can be lowered for easy access, and others have an incline that is ideal for reflux babies.

MFM test subject Georgina found this crib very easy to build and the instructions were clear, which made it an easy and quick build. It folds up into an extremely compact size and comes with a handy travel bedside crib bag.

Easy to assemble

Bedside cribs are typically easy to set up, and are usually on the smaller side, so they can be easily tucked away beside your bed. They are also lighter, making them more transportable. Georgina, one of our MFM home testers, was extremely pleased with the Maxi-Cosi Lora crib for being "super easy to put together, with clear instructions and simple zips." This crib can be used as a portable cot and comes with a convenient bag. It comes with multiple mesh windows that allow for ventilation and the adjustable height makes it can fit on any mattress.

Some cribs with a bedside feature a side panel which can be lowered to let you easily reach your baby without getting out of bed. This is a great option for mothers who are breastfeeding or those who want to be close to their infant at night, but don't wish to take the risk of co-sleeping.

Most models have an integrated rocking feature. This can be very comforting for your baby and can help them sleep. It's also incredibly easy to put together and Georgina, who took part in our MFM tests assembled it quickly and didn't even need to consult the instructions. It's also a great travel cot. It folds flat and can be easily stuffed into bags.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also on the larger side but is still relatively compact and easy to attach to your bed. Georgina also found it easy to assemble, though she felt the instructions could have been clearer regarding the zips.

Easy to clean

When you're looking at bedside crib with wheels cribs and travel cots be sure to look for models that have a mattress cover that is removable which can be washed in the machine. This will keep it clean and free of dribbles, leaky diapers, and spit-up. It's important to choose a product that is able to be disassembled and partially dismantled, so you can get into all the corners and crevices for a thorough cleaning and sanitising session.
