WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item upgrader mod is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item upgrading used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the Item Level Upgrade slot and the current level of the item upgrader mod, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they are part of another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
