The i3+ is a great option for those looking for a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot after it has filled up.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most crucial feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum cleaner vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers recurring costs.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.

This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical, not an exceptional, run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second pass generally works). However, this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times for an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice addition.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better navigate its own. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and works better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a wider array of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
