The sliding side panel of the cot can be lifted and lowered with just a press of a button. This makes it simple to reach inside and soothe a baby at night. It also has 11 height adjustments that allow it to fit the mattress of almost any size bed and it includes adjustable folding feet to ensure it sits at just the right level.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee bedside cots crib is designed to provide an uninterrupted night's sleep. It's also light and easy to move around during nap time or for travel.

It's made of soft materials and features mesh sides that breathe to increase airflow. It comes in charcoal or oak and various melange fabrics that blend with most decor styles. Anna found it to be sturdy and secure once attached to her bed. The legs clicked into place and the zippers were secure for safety. It took Anna around 10 minutes to put together and did not require any tools. There are clear instructions, a video and a customer support number if you experience any issues.

As well as the usual features you'd expect from a crib that is bedside, like being able to connect to your bed using a stay-in-place connector system and six height levels, the CoZee has an additional incline option that can be used to aid congestion or reflux in infants. It can also be washed by a machine - a must for all the spills and vomit that accompany a new baby!

If you're looking to keep your baby close during the first six months when they're learning to sleep independently, the CoZee is a great choice as it can also be used as a stand-alone crib, changing table and toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa-bed extension pack, it could transform into a crib. While it won't be able to magically put your baby to sleep or feed them, it can rock them and send them off.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic

This is one of Chicco’s more expensive alternatives. It does have many excellent features. It's designed to function as an individual side sleeper or standalone crib, and is suitable for babies up to six months. It is easy to open and close the side panel using a brand new mechanism. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels and retractable feet for a secure installation under any bed.

Our testers appreciated the ease of use offered by the side panel, which can be moved upwards and downwards with just one push of a switch. This was a huge help in feedings at night as it meant that they could easily reach inside and take their baby away without waking them up.

The side panel can be lifted on its own however it isn't recommended as this increases the chance of your baby falling out of the cot. But, the patented safety locking mechanism guarantees that it can only stay down when attached to the bed properly. This feature is fantastic to have peace of mind when you are breastfeeding and need frequent feedings at night.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to be compatible with any bed, including divan bases and beds with drawers, thanks to the legs that telescopic. It also has an option to tilt for reflux babies and a rocking feature to bring them back to sleep after eating. It's also incredibly spacious and provides great ventilation due to its mesh sides.

Our test subjects found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, though it does come with a long instruction manual. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers, however, it is easily moved from one room to another. It's small enough to be able to fit into its travel bag when not in use, which is a plus in the event that you have to transport it. The only issue our test subjects found was that the side panel didn't flex as much compared to other models. This made it a bit harder to see the baby from your bed.

The Shnuggle Air

If you're looking for a bedside crib that will expand with your child then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth looking into. It is designed to be a co-sleeping bassinet that is attached to your bed, but can also transform into a stylish cot when your baby is ready, it's perfect for night-time feeds and growing your bond with your baby.

Contrary to other models of bedside crib like the Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. The mesh side panels with dual-view and airflow mattress that is hypoallergenic and breathable increase airflow and keep your baby cool and comfortable. The gentle incline helps alleviate colic and reflux. The zipper-down side lets you to feed your baby or comfort them at night.

The cot conversion kit is also well designed, with clear instructions. It comes with everything you need. It took us around an hour to construct and was surprisingly simple. The only drawback to the instructions was that certain pictures did not have captions. This made it difficult to follow.
