Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet messes in one time, without having to switch between devices. They can also save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must have impressive navigation and obstacles avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank, and wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean, complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can mops up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For example, you can opt for the robot to take care of a thorough clean-up in the kitchen and living rooms but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only minor issue is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and the obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station features a handy LCD screen that displays the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and rinsing the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long running time. The mop can run for 184 mins in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, prior to needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is clearly laid out and is easy to comprehend, though we would like to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. This year's model has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This increases the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to remove fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaner and mop cleaners might overlook.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to helps to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're a wall or another surface. It will then automatically alter its path and clean them without missing a beat.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it has only three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the robot cleaner with mop back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin fills up automatically.

The only downside I found to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount for manual washing. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot hoover passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's lifespan. You'll need to jump through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how efficient it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with cutting-edge features, high suction power and cutting-edge mowing abilities. Its clever design permits personalized and efficient cleaning, while saving you time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the best robot hoover alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry messes. It also has a high-quality mop that makes hard floors sparkling clean, even with a wet pad. In addition the X40 is quiet in its operation, with only occasional bursts of sound when switching between modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.

It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpets and mop only hard floors, or reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple and easy to use, and the X40's smart features are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress and notify you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous features that make it a perfect choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It can also detect whether the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. It has many features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature in its mops, uses two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can remove pet hair and other small dirt particles - in addition to removing spills and wet spots.

Its mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after every use. This is beneficial because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuum and mop models and it could be a useful way of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

There's a wealth of settings available which include the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a variety of preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and has many options for customising your cleaning routine. It also offers several functions that are not available on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots listed on this list but it's not a lot of weight. It is solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors and in corners. They can even extend to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
