Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning both dry and wet messes in one go without the need to switch between devices. They also can save space in comparison to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank, and wash their mopping pads using the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the easiest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual gets you up and running in no time. You'll have a a full dust bag, water tank and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and also vacuums well. The mops spin at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum robotic cleaner and mop comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

For instance, you can ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are excellent too, with the robot hoover and mop being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. The only drawback is that the robot is known to smash into walls and objects at a high speed. However an inspection of the cleaning history on the app will tell you exactly what the robot has accomplished, where it's going, and which obstacles it has encountered or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance tasks are required like emptying the debris tray and cleaning the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can last for 136 minutes in standard mode, before needing recharging or returning to the base. You can view the full cleaning details in the app, which is well laid out and easy to understand although we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's flagship robot hoover vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. In contrast to the model of last year this one has two agitators in its mopping pad which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to pick up finer hairs and other debris other robotic hoovers cleaners might miss.

Like the other two Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining whether they are walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its direction and clean the objects without a pause.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which also resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if it's required) but it's a challenge to remove the mount itself for manual washing. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot hoover and mop crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app lets you manage and configure these advanced features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor battery life and component maintenance. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops in order to allow voice control with this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with its innovative features, top suction power, and advanced mowing abilities. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum removes dry mess, including pet hair and crumbs. It also has a high-quality mop that leaves floors sparkling clean, even without a wet pad. In addition the X40 is extremely quiet during its operation, with only occasional bursts of sound when switching between modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another noteworthy feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush, that allows it to reach difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture, such as tables and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under furniture that is low-profile, making it an excellent choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush automatically tilts down when it detects wet spots. This is a wonderful feature that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through excessive back-and forth movements.

Contrary to other robots which only focus on one thing, the X40 can do both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or separately. It can also be programmed to skip areas with carpets and mop only hard floors or reverse the process. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, see mapping and floor plans and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to keep clean and has many features which make it a good choice for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, and refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It can also detect the moment when the mop pad is at its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. It has several features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature of its mops, uses two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and smaller dirt particles and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This is a great feature because it prevents the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. It's a system that we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a great way of keeping your home clean for longer.

There's a plethora of settings on offer that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and alter a variety of preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers many options to customize the cleaning process, and there are numerous functions that other robots don't include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power when it detects dust particles instead of using the manual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a metallic-white-white finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list however it's not a lot of weight. It is solid and well-built. The mopping system is well designed, and the double rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
