What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?

Upgrade items are a specific kind of item upgrader mod that ensure that Pokemon evolve. They are obtained by spinning Pokestop photo discs and are sometimes used as rewards during events related to evolution.

They can be put into weapons, armor trinkets, weapons, or gathering tools to give additional stats or effects. Some upgrades also have a special cosmetic effect when they are used.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor and trinkets to give a bonus or an extra effect while the equipment is being utilized. They can be bought through vendors, looted or received as rewards. They can also be crafted dropped, made, or obtained through crafting. Upgrade components must be of a higher quality than the item they are being added to, and most require that the item have an upgrade slot in order to accept them. Upgrade components can be substituted with other upgrade components, except for glyphs and inscriptions which can only be removed or added.

Gems, infusions, and enrichments are the most frequently used upgrade components. Gems are upgrade components that can be put in any equipment, and provide less benefits than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are special upgrade components that can be added to non-amulet ascended gear and other legendary equipment. Other upgrade items like glyphs and inscriptions are able to be removed or added to the gathering tools. For instance an object could change its name to a 'Fiery Sword,' by adding a sword pommel of fortitude, or a Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor by adding Rune of Minor Vigor.

Glyphs

Glyphs are character symbols that represent a particular concept or idea. For instance, a symbol can be an image, or the drawing of a heart or a flag. These symbols can be used to create a complete visual language. Additionally, glyphs can be a standardized code that is used to identify it across fonts. This code is referred to as a Unicode.

A glyph has a form that determines which Primary Stats it can be added to and which Secondary Stats it is able to add. Some glyphs have both Primary and Secondary Stat bonuses, while others have only one or the other. The glyphs that have both Secondary and Primary Stats are added to the total stats of the unit, while the ones with only one Primary Stat bonus will increase the stat's value.

Using glyphs is very easy. Press and hold the point of insertion for text to display the Glyphs panel, then choose the glyph you want to insert. View All Glyphs lets you view an entire list of glyphs. The glyphs are listed in the order of their Unicode code and you can choose the one you'd like to insert by clicking it.

When you create a glyph set the file is saved alongside other InDesign preferences and can be shared. The glyphs are not tied to any particular document and can be edited by selecting Edit Glyphs Set from the Glyphs Panel menu. You can also specify whether the glyphs will remember their fonts if you insert them into text.

Rare glyphs are essential for your build, and you should start farming them as soon as you can. They are frequently found in World Tier 3 dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, and other endgame content. They are easier to obtain than the rare shards you can get by crafting items, and provide an improved upgrade to your equipment.
