One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. 2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums best vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot cleaner employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro).
