UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. When doing this it is essential that the new handles match the dimensions of the old handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This style of door handle is available in a wide range of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of tough materials and are perfect for doors with multiple points that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and run from the same spindle and screw fixings, so they are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This ensures that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The lever that springs is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used on doors with a latch that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles, inline or offset. They are usually employed on UPVC double glazing window handle-glazed doors and come in many variations & styles.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White chrome, and Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is usually a benefit when replacing window handles a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when not in use.

It is crucial to ensure that the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement handles for windows UPVC spindle and handle. Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case which is then revealed with pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body, permitting them to turn the cam, thereby opening the bifold door handles. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It depends on the type of use your doors and window handles replacement will receive. For instance, exterior doors require an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. If you cannot measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This helps stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

There are cylinders designed to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found in the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to help return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after using. There was a time when these types of handle did not have a spring integrated into them, and as a result, they can droop or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. Adding this simple component is one of the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as these aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes are specially designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They feature an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually.
